Student Volunteers

Are you a student or young person looking for a different kind of experience? Perhaps you're passionate about the rainforest, animals, children, health, frogs, or green living in general. You can make an important contribution to the planet and to a cause you are passionate about by volunteering in the Amazon. Over the past decade, student volunteers have assisted Project Amazonas with trail and field station upkeep, building projects, turtle conservation, fisheries projects, mapping, botanical and zoological surveys, community health and development projects and more. Our ideal volunteer is someone with energy, patience, and adaptability, a self-starter who is able to work equally well with others or by him/herself. Spanish conversational skills are a huge plus but not always an absolute necessity. Volunteers need to be able to cover their basic living costs while in Peru, but we will work with you to keep these as reasonable as possible. Send us a CV (resume), two letters of reference from a teacher, employer or another person who can evaluate your work ethic and motivation, and a statement of your interests along with the time frame during which you would be available for volunteering. Six months lead time is optimal for coordination purposes.
